Mary Virginia King, 90, of Kingsport passed away Friday, December 31, 2010 at her residence. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Mary was an active lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport. She always had a sunny disposition on life. Mary was a wonderful cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann Lela and Samuel Barger, Sr.; husband, David L. King, Sr.; son, David L. King, Jr.; and brother, Samuel Barger, Jr.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph A. King and Brenda Blankenship of Collierville, TN, Thomas W. King and wife, Tamera of Kingsport, TN; granddaughters, Alicia King Andrews and husband, James Andrews III of Cookeville, Heather King Valdez and husband, Joel Valdez of Cordova, TN; grandsons, James King and wife, Jennifer of Johnson City, TN, Jason King and wife, Ashley of Valdosta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. Graveside services will follow the service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
