Mary Ann Price Kirton, 86, passed away on November 21, 2010 at her home in Kingsport, Tennessee.
The only child of Leone Sidney Herbert and Edward C. Price Jr., she was born in Morehead City, North Carolina. She grew up in Kingsport, where she met her future husband, John Jones Kirton.
Mrs. Kirton graduated from Fassifern School for Girls in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and St. Mary's Junior College in Raleigh, N.C. Her loves were dance ballet and tap, classical piano and opera. She was a member of the Junior League of Kingsport and the Delphian Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Herbert Kirton Love and by her son-in-law, Charles Eskridge Love.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2010 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport with Rev. Edward James Mills III officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations toward finding a cure for age-related macular degeneration, an eye disease that causes deterioration of the retina. Checks, made out to Duke University, should be sent to Duke University Medical Center, attn: Michael Hauser, PhD; Departments of Medicine and Ophthalmology; Box 3445; Durham, NC 27701.
