Mary Lee Wing Blackburn, 96, of Blountville, passed away peacefully January 7, 2019, at Courtyards Senior Living in Johnson City, TN. Mary Lee was born March 27, 1922, to parents Lee Atchley and Lucy Kincannon in Eureka, TN, She and her three siblings Lucille, Herbert, and Jack grew up in Decatur, TN. Soon after graduating from Meigs County High School in 1940, she came to Kingsport for work and remained in Northeast Tennessee for the rest of her life. She was blessed with two happy marriages and survived both husbands, Frank M. Wing Sr. and Thomas M. Blackburn.

Mary Lee worked for the Kingsport City Schools for many years as a teacher's aide and, later, as a secretary. After retirement, she was active in the homemakers club. She was skilled in needlework and quilting and throughout her life made many beautiful creations. During their retirement years, Mary Lee and her husband Tom enjoyed travelling all around the country with their camper in tow. At the time of her death, Mary Lee was the oldest member of Wheeler United Methodist Church. Earlier, she was a member for many years at Mafair United Methodist Church.

Mary Lee is survived by her son, Frank M. Wing Jr.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Wing; grandson, Frank M. Wing III and his wife, Bethany; great-grandchildren, Connor, Emily, and Alex; and a dear friend Cindy Manis. Other survivors include step-children Rebecca Scott, Thomas Blackburn Jr., Cecilia King, and their families.

The family wishes to express appreciation to Mary Lee's caregivers at Courtyard Senior Living and Avalon Hospice.

Services will be Saturday, January 12, 2019, beginning with a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Cemetery, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at Wheeler United Methodist Church, 211 N Sanders St, Blountville, TN 37617 with Rev. Harrison Bell officiating. A reception at the church will follow.

Those wishing may make memorial gifts to the Wheeler United Methodist missions Fund.
