Mary "Helen" Rector Lemmons, 80, New Market, TN, formerly of Kingsport, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2011, at the residence of her daughter, Pam Shults, where she made her home for the past year.
Helen was an avid and talented crafter that touched the hearts of many by the special gifts she made. She was known for her afghans, award winning sock monkeys, and the money roses. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Helen had been a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church since 1941.
Her husband, Jess D. Lemmons, Jr., son, Stanley Butch Lemmons, parents, Milburn and Margaret Rector, brother, Bill Rector, and sister, Mamie Rector preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam Fred Shults and Jill Larry Duncan; grandchildren Mike Polly Lemmons, Gwen James Boyer, Travis Angie Sampson, Steven Melanie Duncan, Alan Duncan, Ethan Shults, and McKenzie Shults; great-grandchildren, Chris and Cody Bright, Sierra and Hunter Sampson, Anthony Boyer, Kaleb Duncan, Brad, Chris, and Nick Lemmons; great-great granddaughter, Sophia Bright; sisters, Peggy Walker, Shirley Chase, and Mavis Harold Rupert; brother, Harlan Rector; and several nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the caring people at Amedisys Hospice Services, especially Paul and Kim for the care and support they have shown. A special thank you to her baby sister Mavis for all the support, help, and love she has given.
Calling hours are 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport.
Services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sherri Franklin officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
