Mary Light

Mary Hutchins Christian Light, 75, Rogersville, went home to be with the Lord Monday (December 15, 2014) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Sullivan County, TN, on January 8, 1939, a daughter of the late Solomon and Fannie Hutchins, she has resided in this area her entire life.

Mary was a caregiver and was of the Baptist faith. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, mamaw, sister, and friend who loved her family and caring for people. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Daniel Christian; granddaughter, Melissa Farmer; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Mary is survived by her husband of 31 years, Wayne Light of the home; daughters, Carol Brown of Gate City, VA, and Shelia Farmer and husband, William, of Kingsport; sons, Dennis Christian and wife, Vinette, of Blountville, Timothy Christian and wife, Maria, of El Paso, TX, Mark Christian and wife, Angie, of Rogersville, and McKinley Christian, Jr., of Kingsport; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Louella Easterly of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Wellmont Systems. Their care was exceptional.

The family will receive from 5 to 7 pm on Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Mitch M. Whisnant officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the organization of the donor's choice.
