Mary Light

Mary Light, 55, lost her battle with cancer but fought all the way into the arms of God on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical center. Mary was born in Cairo, Egypt and came to the United States at the age of 12. She was educated at Texas A&M, Lubbock, TX. Mary retired from the Internal Revenue Service, in Los Angeles, CA, where she received many awards for exceptional service, in 1998. She was also a member of the treasurer's local union of the Army Corp of Engineers, Los Angeles and the loving and devoted wife of a union man.

Her hobbies include raising tropical birds and giving others the opportunity to enjoy her passion for the exotic bird world.

She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bobby" E. Light, Jr. president of I.B.E.W. Local 934; stepsons, Jonathan Light of Kingsport, and Joshua Light of Church Hill; sisters, Eman Tanagho and husband, Jamil Homsi of Covina, CA, Elham Tanagho of Camarillo, CA, and Nahid Abraham of Camarillo, CA; father-in-law, Robert E. Light, Sr. and mother-in-law, Marianne Gentry, both of St. Cloud, FL; and four nephews, Mark Abraham, John Abraham, Jamil Tanagho-Homsi, Jr, and Michael Tanagho-Homsi.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingport. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Charles Bogle officiating.
