Mary Louise Blansett Basinger passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2018, with her husband, Patrick Lee Basinger, at her bedside. Mary was born in Imboden, Arkansas and was the daughter of Lucian and Maude Catherine Blansett. She graduated Pocahontas High School attended Harding College, and graduated from Baptist Nursing School in Memphis, TN where she met Pat. They were married in Memphis on June 17, 1956. They settled in Kingsport in 1958 where Mary was employed at Holston Valley as a triage nurse in the ER. She retired from Holston in her seventies. She was an active member of the Junior League, Garden Club, Boys Club, Cub Scouts, Auxiliary Dental Society, and the TNCC. She was an avid gardener, bird watcher, and enjoyed tennis and golf. Mary was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church where she served a term as parish nurse.
She was preceded in death by son, Patrick Lee Basinger IV and sister, Lillian Cooper.
Mary is survived by her husband, Patrick Lee Basinger III; daughter, Lisa Goff; son, James David Basinger; grandchildren, Michael, Lindsey, Sarah, Rachel and Patrick; great-grandchildren, Fletcher, Owen, Emma and Miles; brothers, William and Larry Blansett; and sister, Ruth Bowman.
The memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in the chapel at First Broad Street United Church with Rev. Joe Green officiating and the eulogy by Dr. William Hudson. The family will receive friends following the service.
