Mary Alice Castle McDavid, Kingsport, passed into eternity Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Brookhaven Manor after complications with pneumonia.
She had been a hairdresser most of her life, still working up until an accident left her unable to walk. Mary Alice owned Bloomingdale Beauty Center in Bloomingdale for several years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Castle; her parents, Onzie and Ellen Carter; brothers, Robert Carter, Clyde Carter and wife Dorothy, Harmon "H.C." Carter; one sister, Monie; brother-in-law, Fred Long; and brother-in-law, J. C. Caldwell.
Survivors include her brother, Cecil Carter and wife Nann; sisters, Lula Long and Nancy Caldwell; sister-in-law, Rio Carter; special niece, Karen Fields; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
The family wishes to thank the Fourth Wing at Brookhaven Manor for Mary Alice's care during her stay. She left many friends behind at Brookhaven Manor.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
At her request, there will be a graveside service only conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. John Irwin officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 12:15 p.m.
