Morelock, 87, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord and be reunited with her husband, Howard, on Monday, August 20, 2007, at SunBridge Care & Rehibilitation-Hillside with her family by her side. Born in Scott County, Virginia, she had resided most of her life in Kingsport. Mrs. Morelock attended Horse Creek Freewill Baptist Church and had worked at Borden Mills.Preceding her in death were her husband, Howard E. Morelock June 1996; her parents, Martin and Flora Gilliam; four sisters, Pearl Hodge, Bess Gilliam, Elva Kilbourne, Dolly Brotherton; and four brothers, James Gilliam, Coy Gilliam, Harley Gilliam, and Ellis Bob Gilliam.Surviving are one son, Gary Morelock and wife, Sue, Fall Branch; one grandson, Steven Morelock and wife, Leslie, Bristol, TN; one sister, Sylvia Burke, Kingsport; one brother-in-law, Wade Morelock and wife, Helen, Jefferson City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Hodges officiating.Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Chaplain Bob Gibson officiating. Family members and friends attending the graveside are asked to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m.Pallbearers will be Steven Morelock, David Cheek, Gary Compton, Wayne Burke, John Hunley, and Birdsie Shipley.The family wishes to send special thanks to Birdsie and Marie Shipley, Geraldine Scalf, and the caregivers at SunBridge Care & Rehibilitation-Hillside and Adventa Hospice.
