Mary Ellen Phillips

Mary Ellen Phillips, 83, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday afternoon, May 27, 2011, at her home.

Born in Jenkins Jones, West Virginia, she lived in the Kingsport area most of her life. Mary Ellen was co-owner of Mousey's Trading Post and a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.

Mary Ellen was a member of Heritage First Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl "Mousey" Phillips; son-in-law, Johnny
Griffin; parents, Walter and Nettie Mae Austin; and sister, Beatrice Austin.

Surviving are her daughters, Carolyn King and husband, Steve of Kingsport and Diane Griffin of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Kevin King and wife Misty, April Steele and husband Denny, Brad Manis, Ryan King and wife Nina, and Sarah Moody; ten great-grandchildren, Mason, Konor, Kealy, Myles, Natalie and Kaitlyn King, Griffin Moody, Jordan Patterson, Peyton and Rylee Steele; and brother, Fred Austin of Fall Branch.

The family will receive friends at Heritage First Church of God from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Services will follow at 4 p.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Tilley and Major Brian West officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
