Mary Lou Perdue Ramsey, 56, of Kingsport, died Sunday evening, April 19, 2009, at Indian Path Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Rocky Mount, Virginia, she had resided in Big Stone Gap, Virginia before moving to Kingsport in 1983. Mary Lou was a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by parents, Curtis and Scotia Ramsey.
She is survived by daughter Stephanie Burks and husband Chris of Johnson City; two grandchildren, Madison and Harrison Burks; ex-husband, Claude "Junior" Perdue of Maryville; and mother-in-law Catherine Perdue of Rocky Mount, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at High Street Cemetery in Rocky Mount, Virginia, with Dr. Jack Corvin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House; 418 N. State of Franklin Road; Johnson City, TN 37604 and to the March of Dimes; 2313 Browns Mill Road, #3; Johnson City, TN 37604.
