Mary Jane Roberts, 76, of the Pine Grove community, Chuckey, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, surrounded by her family who loved and respected her, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born May 10, 1933, in Sullivan County, and was a homemaker. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as song leader for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul M. Roberts, June 24, 2008; one son, Michael Roberts; her parents, Moody McCamy and Nannie Conkin; brothers, Alden, Ralph, George, and Robert McCamy; sisters, Alma Jean and Nina McCamy.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Joe and Judy Roberts, of Duffield, VA; son, Charlie Roberts, of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Lowanda and Terry Dawson, Alice and Rev. Danny Willis, all of Pine Grove community, Rosie and Jerry Chatman, Fall Branch; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Lonnell Crawford, Isabell Parton, Clara Roberts, Inez Parton, and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 12690 Horton Highway, from 2 4 and 6 8 p.m. Saturday. Friends may call at the home at anytime, or at the residence of son Joe Roberts in Duffield.
Funeral services will be conducted at Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Wayne Waycaster and Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Honorary minister is Rev. Orville Dolen.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Ralph and Larry McGhee, Michael and Nathan Willis, James Chatman, Adam Roberts, Dustin and Chris McGhee. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the congregation of Pine Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
