Mary Allen Rotenberry
Mary Allen Rotenberry, 88, died Friday March 12, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
Mary was a retired teacher who taught for many years at St. Dominic school in Kingsport and prior to that at several schools in Bristol and Sullivan County. She served as a positive influence to many students throughout her teaching career, but was also a dedicated homemaker and mother who valued her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Rotenberry, and parents Frank H. and Ethel M. Allen of Bristol, TN.
She is survived by her son, David Allen Rotenberry and daughter in law, Jo Ann Rotenberry, Kingsport, TN; sisters, Frances Allen, Bristol, TN, Jane Reid, Elizabethton, TN, and Nancy Woodward, Kingsport, TN; brother, Ben Allen, Big Stone Gap, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Dr. David Franzus and his staff, as well as the many compassionate caregivers at Wellmont Madison House and Asbury Center.
The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kimberly M. Goddard officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Holston United Methodist Home for Children, P.O. Box 188, Greeneville, TN 37744-9982; The Salvation Army, 505 Dale Street, Kingsport, TN 37660; or Second Harvest Food Bank, 127 Dillon Court, Gray, TN 37615.
