Mary Helen Sanders
Mary W. Sanders, of Kingsport died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at her home.
She was born in Decatur, Georgia, raised in Opelika, Alabama, and resided in Kingsport since 1946. Mary attended Auburn University where she met her husband. She was a long-time supporter of Auburn University and Lees-McRae College Banner Elk, NC, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, a strong supporter Girls, Inc. of Kingsport, and a volunteer with Mended Hearts.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John H. Sanders; one brother, Harold Morton Wilson; and a sister, Jane Davis.
Surviving are two sons, Dout Sanders of Marietta, GA, Scott Sanders and wife Karen of Atlanta, GA; one grandson, Hunter Sanders; two nephews, Nick Davis and Billy Davis; and one niece, Susan Smith.
A family entombment service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Girls, Inc. of Kingsport, P. O. Box 981, Kingsport, TN 37662.
