Mary Charlene Moody Shipley

Mary Charlene Moody Shipley, 81, of Kingsport, passed away on Thursday October 17, 2024. Charlene was born June 14, 1943, in Sullivan County where she remained a lifelong resident. She was a devoted homemaker, an excellent cook and had quite the knack for quilting. She also enjoyed gardening and growing her own vegetables for canning. Charlene was a loving wife, and cherished friend to all who knew her.  

Charlene was preceded in death by her parents, Dwight Leonard Moody and Mary Ruby Swink Moody.  

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Richard Elmer Shipley; brother, Archie Moody and several other friends and loved ones.  

Receiving of friends will be held on Monday October 21, 2024, from 12:00-1:00pm in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home-Downtown Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm officiated by Pastor Al South and Rev. Gorman McMurray. Interment will follow the service at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park 2630 Hwy 75, Blountville, TN 37617.
