Mary Nell Smith of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, December 12 at her daughter's residence in Colonial Heights.
Mary Nell was born in Newport, Tennessee, to the late Frank and Alice Cornett. She was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church. Mary Nell and her late husband, Clyde, operated the Dutch Boy Grill in Kingsport for many years. They retired from the business and enjoyed a wonderful retirement together.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde E. Smith; three sisters, Pearl Talley of North Carolina, and Allene Owens and Ruby Salley of Kingsport.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Snodgrass and husband, Jim of Colonial Heights; grandchildren, Dr. Jeff Snodgrass and wife, Shellena of Johnson City, Kellie McFarland and husband, Capt. David M. McFarland, USN of Washington D.C.; four great-grandchildren, Allie and Chloe McFarland and Ansley and Aiden Snodgrass; nephews, Pastor David Salley and Bob Shields.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 15, at 1:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park, Garden of Good Shepherd, in Kingsport, with Pastor David Salley officiating. The family will receive friends after the service and anytime at the home of her daughter, 116 Greenwood Lane, Kingsport TN.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Indian Path Hospital, Wellington Place in Colonial Heights, Visiting Angels and Mountain States Home Health and Hospice, for all their care and wonderful support during this very difficult time.
