Mary Ruth Starnes

Mary Ruth Starnes, 88, Kingsport, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Brookdale Rock Springs Assisted Living in Kingsport after a brief illness.  Mary was a woman of great faith who loved gardening. She had a large family and was loved by her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Starnes of Kingsport; parents, W. Press Layne and Mary Layne; and two brothers and sisters.

Mary is survived by sons, Michael Starnes and wife, Cheri, and Kenneth (Dale) Starnes and wife, Wanda (Kay); 3 grandchildren, Tifanie Crusenberry and husband, Brian, Kaylee Mayo and husband, William, and Amber Perry and husband, Aaron; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Many thanks to Brookdale Rock Springs and also to Amedysis Hospice. for their special care of Don and Mary Ruth in these later years of life.

The family will receive friends from 3-4:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Pastor Joel Trigg officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Sunday at 1:00 pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
