Mary Sue (Susie) Morgan Sexton

Mary Sue (Susie) Morgan Sexton was born on July 1, 1946 and spent her entire life in the Kingsport area. Susie left her earthly body and earned her angel wings on April 28, 2025 after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer.

Susie attended Sullivan High and later attended cosmetology school, becoming a licensed cosmetologist. Susie worked at several different hair salon locations in the Kingsport area before establishing her own salon, which she operated for several years. She had always been involved, showing her creative side, by working alongside her mother and sister in a thriving interior design studio, where they specialized in custom drapes, spreads and wall coverings. She continued with her career’s until her marriage to Roy Kenneth Sexton in 1967. She later became the proud mother of Stephanie. After the birth of her daughter, she devoted all of her attention to being a full-time wife, mother, and homemaker. When Susie and her husband retired, they spent much of their time enjoying many outdoor activities including fishing, camping and organizing and participating in competitive shooting events. Susie was well loved by her family and friends for many reasons, especially the exceptionally nice dinner table she prepared and set with the many fish she and Kenneth caught on their numerous fishing trips to Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Roy K. Sexton and her parents, Charles R. and Ruth Morgan.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie and Stephanie’s finance, Dan Patrick; stepson, Wayne; sister, DeWanna Calhoun and her husband Gary; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, May 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Brother Barney Fields officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make contributions to the Ballad Hospice House in Bristol, Tennessee in Susie’s honor.
