Mary "Cindy" Travis

Mary “Cindy” Jewel Travis, age 83, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Johnson City Medical Center. Mary was born in Nickelsville, Virginia on June 20, 1941 to Dewey and Leona Hartsock McRoberts. 

Cindy attended Dobyns Bennett High School and married Luther RB Travis on December 24, 1959. 

Mary is preceded in death by her biological father, Dewey McRoberts, mother, Leona Stewart; stepfather, Sid Stewart; son, Beau Travis; sister, Sally Pratt; and brother, Jim Stapleton.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Luther RB Travis; son, Bart Travis (girlfriend, Amy Bradshaw); and daughters, Renne Dykes (Timmy) and Rakiel Ashbrook (Chris); seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. 

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with Pastor Ron Lowe officiating the service. The family will receive friends following the service.
