Mary Vuytowecz Gosselin

Mary Gosselin, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, at her home Tuesday, July 24th. She celebrated her 90th birthday this past February.

Mary, daughter of the late Karol and Nellie Vuytowecz, grew up in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She and her late husband, George, shared 59 years of love, laughter and adventures. Their journey together started in Kingsport in 1953, as George began his career with Tennessee Eastman. They welcomed their son, Jeff, in 1954 and then the young family was transferred back to New England. They made homes in Barrington, Rhode Island and White Plains, New York. They were transferred back to Kingsport in 1961 with three more children in tow, Andrea, Peter and Judy. They were excited to return to their beloved small town nestled in the beautiful Tennessee Mountains.

Mary had a spirited soul. She was full of spunk and was the ultimate "energizer bunny". She had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a hand. She was committed to her Catholic Faith. Mary and George were instrumental in helping one of the Vietnamese families that St. Dominic sponsored in the 1970s. They also worked with the church's St. Vincent de Paul Society. Mary was also involved with Meals on Wheels, the Reach to Recovery Program, and gave over 40 years of service to Holston Valley Community Hospital.

She enjoyed sports, especially her days on the tennis court, where she perfected her lobs! She loved working in her yard, playing bridge, a good book, games, shopping (especially sales!) yearly trips to Hilton Head, and time spent with her children and her friends.

Mary DELIGHTED in welcoming everyone -her friends and her children's friends, for discussions around her kitchen "round table". She held court over many heated debates and lively banter. She treasured all the stories that were shared, but of course she was ALWAYS happy to give you her opinion- as she was lovingly given the nickname "the little general".

She relished her role as grandmother and great grandmother. She loved them fiercely and was such a fun "Gigi".

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Karol and Nellie; husband, George; infant daughter, Carol; son-in-law, Don Brewer; her sister, Stacia; and her brother, John.

Survivors include her son, Jeff Gosselin and wife, Cheryl and their family, Aaron Gosselin and wife, Sara Hunt, Alex Gosselin and Alyssa Gosselin; daughter, Andrea Brewer and her family, Eric Brewer and wife, Melissa, Jake Brewer and wife, Lauren and Elle Brewer; son, Peter Gosselin; daughter, Judy Kresge and husband, Cliff and their family, Peter Ambrosetti, Luke Ambrosetti, and wife, Annelise, Nicholas Ambrosetti and Mason Kresge; great grandchildren, Hunter, Hudson and Hayden Brewer; her sister, Helen Robinson and her brother, Charlie Vuytowecz.
