Mary Elza Morley Young, 99 years and 9 months, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 16, 2010, after a brief illness. Mary was born February 16, 1911, in Johnson County, TN, to Charles and Naomi McQueen Morley.
Mary was a faithful wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her Lord, her family, and her church dearly.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sherman Young, in 1980; a son, Earnest Dale Young, in 1952; a daughter-in-law, Betty Young; five sisters; and three brothers.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth Phillips and husband, Ron; five sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and wife, Reda, Harold and wife, Della, Tom and wife, Billie, Bill and wife, Grandle, George and wife, Lois. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gravelly Baptist Church, 500 Gravely Road. Services will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Pastor David Salley officiating. Music will be offered by the Gravelly Baptist Church choir.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park in Elizabethton, TN. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gravelly Baptist Church Building Fund, 500 Gravely Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.
