Maude Marie Moody, 86, 634 Emory Church Road, Kingsport, went to be with her Lord Thursday morning, January 12, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Hawkins County and has lived in Kingsport for most of her life. She worked at North Electric for 15 years, but her greatest accomplishment was that she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of Emory United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Moody; her parents, Ray and Jesse Armstrong Christian; a brother, Arlon Christian; and a sister, Novella Light
Survivors include her children: Darlene King and husband, Eddie, Kingsport, Barbara Hicks and husband, Jim, Blountville, Jimmie Salyer and husband, Ron, Church Hill, Carrie Sue Larkins and husband, Terry, Kingsport, Larry Edward Moody and wife, Ginger, Kingsport, Donna Roop and husband, Terry, Athens, AL; her 12 grandchildren: J. R. King, Tonya King, Sammy King, Gary Sawyer, Landon Sawyer, Crystal Edmonson, Chad Martin, Amanda Williams, Jason Larkins, Jonathan Roop, Brittany Roop, David King; several great grandchildren; two sisters: Lura Gray, Earlene Bartona"both of Church Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday January 14, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Ray Amos, Jr., officiating.
Graveside services will be Sunday January 15, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery. Gary Sawyer, Jr., Landon Sawyer, David King, Sam King, Jonathan Roop, and Jason Larkins will serve as pallbearers.
