Maurice D. "Maury" Sheats

Maurice D. "Maury" Sheats, 73, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 29th at his home. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana and had resided in Kingsport since 1972. His active service was in the U.S. Navy aboard an aircraft carrier and he retired as a Staff Sergeant from the U.S. Army Reserve. Upon leaving the army, he worked as a master machinist until his retirement. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Maury enjoyed spending time on the internet with his many friends around the world.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Lee Sheats and brother, Steve Sheats.

Maury is survived by his daughter, Pamela Peterson of California; two brothers, James Sheats of Bullhead City, AZ and Dennis Sheats of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Cecelia Graves of Anderson, CO; sister-in-law Nova Wolfe; step-daughter, Sandra Gardner and husband, Lynn of Kingsport; step-son, Phil Coffman and wife, Louane of Gray; many nieces and nephews including special nephews, David Jessee and wife, Rebecca and Matthew Jessee and wife, Hannah.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 4th at 2:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Fall Branch with Rev. Al South officiating. Burial will follow at Fall Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.
