Max Alard Christian, 70, of Jonesborough, passed away at his home on Monday, January 25, 2010, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Rogersville, and had lived in East Tennessee most of his life. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, and retired from Arcadia Graphics after 40 years of service. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed working in his yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Grace Christian, and a brother, Othel Christian.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Christian; daughters Pam McKay and husband Blake, of Jonesborough, and Megan Christian, of Knoxville; two grandsons, Jared McKay and Heath McKay; a brother, John Christian, Jr., and wife Christine, of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, or anytime at the home. Services will follow at 8:00, with Rev. Vic Wallace officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Jonesborough, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #3/265. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Christian, Jack Christian, Tim Christian, Brandon Christian, Daniel Christian, Josh Fields, and John Fields. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Gillenwater and Martin Wiley.
