Maxie ?Emmie? Dougherty, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 9, 2007.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy ?Monk? Dougherty, Jr.; sisters, Onie Cochran, Verda Harris, Lola McConnell, Edith Kiser, Carrie Carter, Ruth Collins, and Josie Blevins; brothers, Stuart McConnell, Ceburn H. McConnell, and Albert McConnell; and special friend, Irvin Anderson.
Surviving are one daughter, Tammy Burke and husband, Ron, Mt. Carmel, TN; two sons, Larry Dougherty and wife, Hester, Kingsport, Randy Dougherty and wife, Peggy, Kingsport; three grandchildren, April Dougherty, Joe Bates, Jason Dougherty; three great-grandchildren, Makayla Kirwan, Joe Bates, Gabriel Bates; special friend, Betty Dougherty and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, and any time at the home. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Grover Starnes and Pastor Marvin Lane officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
