Maxine Keys Bales

Maxine Keys Bales passed away January 30, 2009 at the age of 90. She was born July 4, 1918 to Monnie Osborne Keys and Charles Keys.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Serl Bill Keys and Charles Edgar Keys; sisters Lucille Walker, Charlene Cleveland, Dorothy Martin, and Betty Cox; half-brother Grover Houston; and half-sister Blanche Armentrout.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Lester W. Bales of Chuckey; son and daughter-in-law Larry Bales and Alice; grandsons Larry Wade Bales, Jr. of Greeneville, Charles Charlie Bales and wife Ruth of Fall Branch; great-grandsons Alan Bales and Laten Bales of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver Donna Fox.

Maxine graduated from Sulphur Springs High School, Jonesborough, Class of 1937. She enjoyed attending her class reunions and was a member of Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

The family will receive friends Sunday, February 1st, 2009, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with Rev. Rocky Johnson and Rev. Carl Strickler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Bailey, Jonathan Bailey, Jimmy Hite, Norman Frye, Albert Keys, Danny Keys, Don Haren, and Sam Haren.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Lowell Phillips, Jack Christian, Howard Thornburg, Jim Hart, Willie Good, Rick Good and Mark Good.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 16340 Kingsport HWY, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
