Maxine White King died Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Wellmont Hospice in Bristol, TN.
Born in Kingsport in 1916, she graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and was a lifelong member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church. After retirement, Maxine and Cam spent Januarys with friends in Daytona Beach, FL, and traveled to Rome, Italy and Hawaii. They spent their weekends at their cabin on Boone Lake fishing and tending a huge garden.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, John J. and Gertrude Roller White, and siblings, Faustine White, Claralee White Glenn, Paul White and Pauline White Jones.
Married for sixty years, she was the widow of Cam A. King, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her son, John J. King and his wife, Dola Guernsey King, both of Kingsport.
She is survived by her son, Campbell A. King III and his wife, Barbara, their daughter, Sarah King Forrester, her husband, William and their son, Wells, all of Savannah, GA; her granddaughter, Amye King Fish and her son, Anderson, both of Tavares, FL and granddaughter, Nikelle King Hagy and her husband, Adam, and their son, Oliver, all of Kingsport; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Jack P. Weikel officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark McRoy, Paul McRoy, Tommy Glenn, Jimmy White, Harvey Herron and James Postell.
The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Dr. Richard Reed and the staff of Elmcroft of Kingsport, caregivers Frances Spivey, Sandy Spejcher, Carolyn Gilliam, Darsula Ferrell. Also, Becky Sutherland and Patricia York and the staff at Wellmont Hospice in Bristol for the excellent care they gave to Maxine.
