Melba Deanna Bishop

Melba Deanna Bishop, 70, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, May 28, 2015, after a long hard battle with cancer. She was born in Scott County, VA on July 9, 1944 to the late Daton Brickey and Claudia Sanders Gillenwater. Melba loved watching Living Faith television, flowers, and visiting with family and friends. She was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother to her children and was loved and cherished by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Conley (Dennie) Bishop, Sr. and her brother, Granvel (Dorse) Brickey.

Melba is survived by her sons, Timothy (Tim) Bishop of the home, and Conley (Gene) Bishop, Jr., and wife, Sue of Kingsport; daughter, Robin Hall and husband, Claude of Mt. Carmel; stepfather, Barney Gillenwater of Kingsport; sister, Cathy Carberry and husband, Mickey of Kingsport; special companion, Harold Ketron of Kingsport; granddaughters, Kendra Hall of Mt. Carmel, and Heather Puckett Bishop of Kingsport; grandson, Joshua Bishop of Florida, and countless extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 1:30 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Chad Carberry, Harold Ketron, Jr., Tommy Hall, Marvin Hall, Roger Verran, Harvey Hall and Steve Walker.
