Michael (Mike) Cole

Michael (Mike) Cole age 72 passed away on March 2, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving wife, family and friends.  Mike graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School and then served in the US Army Reserves from 1970-1976. He owned and operated Cole Construction for over 45 years in Kingsport and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Mike loved playing golf, drinking Starbucks coffee, and spending time with family and friends.  Mike and Beth were known  for being great hosts to the many, family and friends who came to visit in Hilton Head. He was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather, brother and Poppi and was loved by all who knew him.  

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Cole and Naomi Taylor Cole. 

Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 32 years, Beth Maultbay-Cole; daughter Jenny Rivers (Wes); son Spencer Cole; stepson, Josh Wininger; brothers, Lonnie Cole (Donna), Sam Cole (Marsha); sisters, Susie Epperson (Ronnie), Cathy Poole and Rhonda Cole; granddaughters, Madison and Isabella Rivers who were the apple of his eye; special nephew, Anthony Salas; and several nieces and nephews. 

The family appreciates all the physicians and nurses who provided care for Mike during his extended illness.  

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors by The American Legion Posts #3/265 and The National Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to gather at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m. 

Pallbearers will be Tim Maultbay, David Jennings, Jake Maynard, Anthony Salas, Riley Gordon, and Clint Cole. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Taylor, Mike McClellan, and Danny Hilton.
