Michael J. Riggs

Michael J. Riggs, 61, unexpectedly passed away on June 25, 2024, in Canton, Georgia. He was born on April 6, 1963, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to Neshma and the late Kenneth Riggs.

Michael graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in 1981 and pursued Chemical Engineering at Clemson University. In 1995, he married Sharee Bruce Riggs. He held the position of IT Manager at Southern Proper Hospitality Group in Cobb County, Georgia.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Riggs, his paternal grandparents, James and Jewell Riggs, his maternal grandparents, Cecil and Willie Ward, his mother-in-law June Bruce and brother-in-law, Barry Bruce, and several beloved Aunts and Uncles. 

He is survived by his wife, Sharee Riggs, his mother, Neshma Riggs, his sister, Melinda (Dennis) Miller, his father-in-law, Bob Bruce, sister-in-law, Jamie (Rob) Davidson, his nieces and nephews: Ken Miller, Madison Miller, Dylan Bruce, and Brittany Davidson his Aunts: Nedra McCrystal, Debbie Riggs, Diane (John) Sheffield, Willie Horton and a special cousin: Charlotte (Lolly) Oliver. 

Michael earned the distinguished honor of becoming an Eagle Scout and had a passion for hiking, backpacking, playing the guitar, and music of all kinds (especially all by Rich (Chard) Mullins). 

A memorial graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Kingsport, TN, on Monday, July 1st, at 11:30 am. Pastor David Mullins will officiate the service.
