“A loving Dad, tender and kind, what a beautiful memory you left behind.”
-Missed with grief beyond tears
Michael Vannoy, 61 years old of Kingsport, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord, November 26th 2023 doing what he loved, traveling the country and training new CDL drivers. Mike was born in Kingsport, TN on November 30th 1961, son of the late Charles James Vannoy and Joyce Ann Vannoy.
Mike graduated from TCAT with his degree in Diesel Mechanic. He proudly served in the United States Army as 11 Bravo- Infantry Division. Memberships, organizations and special achievements; active in the “Smart Ass Club”, Avid MAGA supporter, and even prouder supporter of the NRA.
He will be remembered in many ways, as he truly was a one-of-a-kind, master of all trades, role model, and our rock. Michael was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend. He encompassed many admirable traits such as his work ethic, knowledge and wisdom; he was our “go to” for guidance in all of life’s seasons, he encompassed a sense of humor for every situation; selfless disposition, genuine, and caring. His presence and personality lit up a room, and all of his grandchildren flocked to him. Michael loved his profession, but what he loved even more was his time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved beyond measure. Hobbies included; vintage cars, fishing, music, cheering on the Tennessee Vols, traveling, eating Pals and Chinese food.
For that, and much more, he is deeply and forever missed, and will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parent, he is preceded in death by brother Charles James “Pete” Vannoy, and lifelong friend Tony Pierson.
Survivors include son, Michael Joseph and Amber Vannoy; their children, Kayllyn “KK”, Layla, Michael Joseph II and Niyah; daughter, Mari and Toriano Baldwin; their children, Quantavius, Btazej, Jaikari “Jake”, Aylina and Kyah; daughter, Malaura and Jesse Haney; their children, Blythe and Eliza Mae; brother, Jeff Vannoy and uncle, RJ Laney.
