Michael Wayne Combs, 44, Kingsport and Nickelsville, VA, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, May 28, 2018 at Indian Path Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. Michael courageously fought a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born October 31, 1973 in Kingsport, TN, the son of Fredia Combs and the late Jimmy Combs. Michael graduated from Twin Springs High School in 1991 and from M.E.C.C. with a business degree. He was employed by Citi in Gray, TN. He was co-founder of Appalachian GhostWalks and also served as a tour guide. Michael was an avid comic book collector.

In addition to his dad, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, W.R. Combs and Ruth Combs Fugate; maternal grandparents, Willie and Letha Maness; and step-grandfather, Robert E. Fugate.

He is survived by his partner and best friend, James Greer; mother, Fredia Combs of Nickelsville; sisters, Sharon Combs of Kingsport and Traci Combs of Nickelsville; brother, Darryl Combs and wife, Lisa of Nickelsville; nieces and nephews, Holly Pate and husband, Jordan, Elliot Combs, Adam Fields, Allissa Redwine and companion Jonathan Russell, Alivia Combs, Chloe Jones, Silas Pate, Avery Fields, August Redwine and Ryder Pate; step-family, daughters, Chloe Willis and companion Travis Taylor, and Moria Greer; grandkids, Kathryn Taylor, Jaxxon Greer and Chandler Derrick; father and mother-in-law, Millard and Jean Greer; brother-in-law, Hugh Greer (Brenda); sister-in-law, Brenda Rose (Randy), and Linda Kiser, all of Kingsport; special friends, Jason Lee, Andy Kerr, Wayne Story and Katrina Dotson; and fur babies, Gizmo, Roxy and Velma.

Special thanks to PCU nurses, doctors and staff of Indian Path. Special thanks also to Dr. Famoyin and staff at Quality of Life in Johnson City, TN.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 pm with Mr. Wayne Story officiating.
