Mike Evans

Mike A. ?Mick? Evans, 64, of Kingsport, died Thursday evening, October 25, 2007, at his home in the presence of his family.

He was born in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois, but had resided in Kingsport most of his life. Mike graduated from Illinois State University, served in the U. S. Air Force during Vietnam, and worked for First Tennessee Bank for 34 years. He was a member of Saint Timothy?s Episcopal Church, the Bristol Bird Club, past-president of the American Red Cross, The Friends of Roan Mountain, and the Sierra Club.

Mike was an avid bird watcher and conservationist.

Preceding him in death were his first wife, Jean R. Evans; his second wife, Mary Evans; his mother, Pat Evans; twin step-grandsons, Ethan Ward Walker and James Ross Walker.

Surviving are one daughter, Melinda J. Evans, Golden, Colorado; one son, William A. Evans, Kingsport; two stepdaughters, Jennifer Walker and husband, Ross, Kingsport, Leanne Coffey and husband, Matt, Graniteville, South Carolina; one stepson, Greg Cross and wife, Lisa, Kingsport; six step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandsons; his father, Roy A. Evans, Bloomington, Illinois; one sister, Linda Rojahn and husband, Pete; one brother, Steve Evans and wife, Elaine, Bloomington, Illinois; one nephew, Eric Rojahn; two nieces, Stacey Evans and Michelle Sapp; and caregiver, Teresa Watts.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at St. Timothy?s Episcopal Church. Memorial services will follow at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church with eulogy by Roger Ward.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
