Richard Wayne "Mike" Haulsee, 78, of Kingsport, died Friday afternoon, May 25, 2018, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after an extended illness. Born in Marion, VA, Mike was raised in Kingsport and a graduate of Lynn View High School class of 1957, and ETSU in 1961. He spent more than 21 years in the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. During his military career he served as an Airborne Ranger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gaye S. Haulsee; parents, B.V. and Margaret Haulsee; and brother, David Lynn Haulsee.
Mike is survived by two sisters, Billie Sue Monroe of Knoxville and Cecelia "Cissy" Taylor and husband Crockett of Kingsport; one brother, Donald J. "Pete" Haulsee and wife Phyllis of Johnson City; sister-in-law Phyllis Haulsee of Knoxville; two stepdaughters, LeAnn Lakins and husband Joe of Baneberry, TN, and Christy Hoover of Morristown; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Sharon Amstutz officiating.
Entombment services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
