Mildred "Rene" Carr

Mildred "Rene" Carr, 80, Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord Friday April 5, 2013 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Stickleyville, VA on June 9, 1932, a daughter of the late Will and Corda Mendenhall, she had resided in this area her entire life.

Rene was a member of Homeland Baptist Church.

She retired from Tri-City Linen after several years of service.

Rene will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom, mamaw, sister and best mother-in-law a girl could have, who loved gardening, her flowers, canning and loved to stay busy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Singh and the nurses and staff of the 4th and 2nd floors at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin "Bill" Carr; brothers, Charlie Mendenhall, Roy Mendenhall, Ernest "Son" Mendenhall, Walter "Buck" Mendenhall and Guy Mendenhall; and sisters, Nellie Mendenhall, Emma Mendenhall, Laura Mann, Janie Bledsoe and Verdie Mendenhall.

Survivors include her son, Darrell Carr and wife, Teresa; granddaughter, Dr. Tonya Carr and fiancé, Dan Wright; sisters, Mary Dougherty, and Susie Hensley and husband, Gaines; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, April 8th at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the graveside by 1:45 pm Monday.
