Mildred Reed Davenport, 85, of Mt. Carmel, TN, died Monday, October 8, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Midway, Tennessee, but had resided in Mt. Carmel since 1953. Mildred worked for the Social Security Administration and later for the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. She also worked at Holston Defense and the Mt. Carmel Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Her parents, Frank and Dora Reed; and husband, Ralph Davenport, preceded her in death.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Rich Lamborn, St. Petersburg, FL; a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Donna Davenport, Jefferson City, TN; four grandchildren, Christine Carbonell, Kevin Davenport, Kara Davenport, and Holly Davenport; two sisters, Beatrice Livingston, Church Hill, Willie Baughard, Mosheim, TN; three brothers, Hubert Reed, Oak Ridge, James Reed, Mosheim, Guy M. Reed, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Dr. Randy Pressnell officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Morrison, Bill Whitmore, Jerry Tate, Scott Byerley, Jerry Byerley, Bob Grimes, Carl Newland, and Bill Philyaw.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
