Mildred Hurley, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home in Elizabethton. She was born in Imboden, VA and had resided in Kingsport since 1955. Mildred was a lifelong member of Imboden Community Church, Imboden, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Edward Hurley; parents Judge T. Sr. and Flora Calton; sister Ruth Mabe and brother John Calton.
Survivors include two daughters, Karen Whetsel and husband, Andy, Patti Oakes and husband Benny; four grandchildren, Austin Whetsel, Callie Whetsel, Matthew Oakes, Nathan Oakes and wife, Lucy; one great grandson, Aiden Whetsel; two sisters, Blanche Newman and husband, Carl, Virginia Barton and husband Paul; brother Judge T. Calton, Jr. and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4-6 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will begin at 6 pm with Rev. Tony Nunley officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, VA on Wednesday at 11 am. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Imboden Community Church, c/o Vickie Lawson, 5203 Skeens Ridge Road, Big Stone Gap, VA 24219.
