Mildred Scalf

Mildred Scalf, 82, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Saturday, June 30, 2018, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hawkins County, she had lived in this area most of her life. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Murray Matthews and then for several years at Hamlett-Dobson receiving and attending to families and their guests during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Scalf; parents, Reece and Elva Robinette; and sister-in-law, Muriel Robinette.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Jackie Ortega; 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Amanda, Derrick and DeWayne; 9 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jeremiah, Joshua, Hailey, Olivia, Cameron, Adrienah, Kyron and Alexis; 2 brothers, Don Robinette and Harold Robinette and wife, Patricia; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

The graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.

Pallbearers will be Michelle Scalf Morua, Derrick Gilman, DeWayne Gilman, Nicholas Hall, Ricky Hall and Jeff Robinette. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Robinette, Randall Jeter and Joshua Hall.
