On Christmas Eve, Dec 24th, Mildred Skinner went to be with the Lord. Mim was a loving Mother and Grandmother and her life was a living testimony to all who knew her.
Mim grew up in Rome, Ga. where she worked for the Dept of Human Services. She moved to Kingsport in 1964, where she raised 4 daughters and 4 grand-children. Mildred was a volunteer at Kingsley Elementary School and an active member at Hermon United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Eugene Skinner; parents Grady and Elizabeth Hunter of Rome, Ga.; and Sister Sarah Hunter.
She is survived by her daughters Sharrley Smith of Winter Springs, Fl, Delora Austin, husband Don, Joyce Skinner of Kpt, Helen Breeding of Orange Park, Fl and a stepdaughter Carol Gene Greene of New Zealand.; eight grand-children; six great grandchildren; brother Tommy Hunter and sister Sandra Browder, both of Ga.
Family will receive friends from 2-5 pm Sunday 12/27/09 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport TN. Additional viewing will be Monday 1-2, followed by funeral services at Hermon United Methodist Church, East Carters Valley Rd, Gate City VA.
Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. Raymond Amos and Rev. Brad Eugene Skinner.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Honor of Mildred Skinner at Holston Children's Home.
The family wishes to thank you for all the prayers, visits, and cards sent to our mother over her last years. The visits and cards meant so much to her and she appreciated them all.
