Mildred F. (Curry) Sprinkle of Kingsport passed away on December 26, 2024, after a period of declining health. Mildred was born in Asheville, North Carolina on July 19, 1938, a daughter of the late Annie Laura and Carter Marvin Curry, and resided most of her life in Kingsport, Tennessee. She attended Dobyns-Bennet High School and was employed by J. P. Stevens for 25 years as a weaver. Pursuing a dream to further her education, she graduated in 1989 from the Kingsport School of Practical Nursing. She retired from Indian Path Medical Center after 15 years of dedicated practice. Mildred attended Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death are her beloved husband of 41 years, John B. Sprinkle; brothers, Ralph Curry and Aaron Curry; sister, Millie Fay Curry; niece, Cathy Robinson.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Melinda K. Collins and #1 son-in-law Mark A. Collins, Sr. of Kingsport; two grandsons, Mark A. Collins, II of Kingsport and Dr. John W. “Marshall” Collins of Jackson, Mississippi; brother Joe Curry of Kingsport; sisters, Barbara Oaks of Greeneville, and Ruth Sproles of Kingsport; nieces, Patty Burton and Rebecca Oaks; nephews, Carter Curry, Kenneth Curry and James Sproles Jr.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home located at 117 E. Charlemont Ave., Kingsport. Funeral services officiated by Reverend T. Richard Harris will be conducted at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with special music provided by Lemuel Mixon.
Graveside services immediately following will be held at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Steven Cregger, Rick Hill, Chad Shanks, Junior Silva, Randy Smith, and Robert Young.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Milligan University Nursing Scholarship Fund, online at Milligan University or sent directly to Milligan University, P.O. Box 750 Milligan, TN 37682.
