Born in Kingsport, Tennessee, September 13, 1920, to John Guy Horton and Elva Shelton Horton, her parents who predeceased her, Mildred Frances Horton Street, age 94, died November 05, 2014, in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she had made her home with her husband, Virgil Van Street, who predeceased her. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1938 and was a long time member of the Episcopal Church in Maryland and Florida and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was also predeceased by her first husband, James Corbett Townsend, and their only child, a daughter, Jamis Cecilia Townsend and Mildred's brother, Jackson Lucian Horton.
Mildred is survived by cousins, Marilyn Horton Wilson and Carolyn Horton Hunter, of Idaho, and Joseph Randall Shelton of Morristown, Tennessee.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Burial will follow at Holston View Cemetery.
