Hazel Cox Crawford passed away September 20, 2009, at her home. She was born March 6, 1913, in Sullivan County, TN, and lived most of her life in the Lone Star Community. She retired from Temple Star School where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a good Christian mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She attended Walker's Fork Church in her earlier years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dana Lee Crawford; her parents, Clarence Lee Cox and Elizabeth Hickman Cox; four brothers, R. C. Cox, Orville Cox, J. C, Cox, and Earl Cox; and her sister, Gladys Conkin.
She is survived by her daughter Louise Chase and husband Kyle; son Robert "Clarence" Crawford and wife Edna; granddaughter Lisa Morrell and husband Keith; grandson Mark Chase and wife Diane; two special great-grandsons Daniel Morrell and Michael Chase; brothers J. Paul Cox and wife Mildred, Robert L. Cox, Roy D. Cox and wife Bonnie; sister Ruth Cline and husband David; sister-in law Lillian Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8:00 with Rev. Lewis Meade and Rev. Jessee Wooten officiating and music provided by Pete, Diane, and Jeremy Smith. Burial will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Lone Star Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Chase, Michael Chase, Keith Morrell, Daniel Morrell, Johnny Cox and Charles Short. Honorary pallbearers will be David Cox, Vester Coffey, Henry Crawford, and Raymond Edens.
The family would like to express special thanks to Honorary Minister Rev. Orville Dolen, and to Dr. Jason Brazee.
