Mrs. Helen Gayle Francis, 72, of Jonesborough, TN, passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 at home while surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Francis was born in Wise County, VA, the daughter of the late Allie and Robert Bob Flanary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Kyle Wheatley, Robert Wheatley, and Glen Douglas Flanary; and sisters, Pauline Crowder and Gladys Hamilton.
Mrs. Francis attended Homeland Baptist Church in Kingsport. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker, hairstylist, and retired manager of Employee Activity Association Store EAA at Headquarters, Central Intelligence Agency, McLean, VA. She loved her children, grandchildren, and was very generous in giving to the people of need.
Helen and her husband, Lonis, were fortune to be able to travel to many parts of the world, Europe, Asia, Central and South America, plus all fifty states.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Lonis M. Francis; daughters, Vicki Price and husband Benny and Robyn Gayle Robinson and husband Michael; son, Nathan Bruce Francis and wife Tracy of Manassas Park, VA; grandsons, Jason M. Francis and wife Kelly, Nicholas Bruce Francis, Jacob Malone Francis, and Ronnie Price; granddaughters, Amanda Bishop and husband Bryan, Tara Lynn Francis, and Rebecca Price; great-grandchildren, Chloe Scott Francis, Colin Malone Francis, Jordan Bishop, and Brandon Price; sisters, Ann Cornett and Sarah Ketron; sisters-in-law, Estella Wheatley and Shelby Flanary; and many nieces and nephews. Helen's great-granddaughter, Chloe, was very dear to her heart and she cared for her deeply.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Homeland Baptist Church. Services will follow at 8 p.m. at the church with Pastor J. W. Depew and Pastor Steve Tilley officiating. Music will be provided by Damon Depew and Teresa Jaynes.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
