MSgt. James W. Clark

MSgt. James W. (Jim, Uncle Bud) Clark passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015. He was born on April 10, 1932 in Sullivan County, TN. Bud was a very active member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, a church he loved dearly.

Bud was a career Air Force military policeman and proudly served his country during the Vietnam era. He lived in many places around the world including Saudi Arabia, Japan, Germany and England. He met and married the love of his life, Melanie Elsa Eglseberd in 1962, while living in Germany. Although his address changed many times during his military service, he chose in retirement to come home to the beloved mountains of East Tennessee, and to his extended family and friends. Finding extra time on his hands, he graduated with an associate degree from Tri-Cities State Technological University and worked at Eastman Chemical Company until his retirement. Bud had a huge heart and gave much to the community. When funds for the Veteran's Memorial of Kingsport ran short, he researched local veterans who had not been recognized and donated thousands of dollars on their behalf. Forever looking out for those less fortunate, he contributed to many local charities as well as to charities around the world.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melanie Elsa Eglseberd Clark, his son, Mark Williams Clark, parents, M.C. and Mary Shaffer Clark, sisters, Mae Benton, Iva Nell Clark, Marie Olterman, and brothers, Roy Earl Clark and O.G. Clark.

Bud is survived by several nieces and nephews.

The Clark family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm in at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm. with Rev. Robert Burlingham officiating.

Military graveside services will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 at East Lawn Memorial Park with Military Rites by American Legion Posts 3/265. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
