Myrtle Hurd McCrary, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, February 22, 2010, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in Hancock County, TN, and had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Mrs. McCrary had worked as a substitute teacher at Johnson Elementary School for a number of years. She was a Baptist, and enjoyed gardening. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. McCrary was preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Hattie Hurd; her husband, A. Y. McCrary; and a brother, Charles Hurd.
Surviving her are her daughter, Teresa LaGuardia and husband, Larry, of Kingsport; a grandson, Joey LaGuardia, also of Kingsport; and two nieces, Lucille Davenport and husband, Lee, and Carolyn Davenport and husband, Arthur, all of Rogersville.
The family will receive friends at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A graveside services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park, with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
