Myrtle Mendenhall, 76, 3509 Reservoir Road, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, July 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Hawkins County, but had resided in Kingsport most of her life. Myrtle was a longtime cook at Elks and later at Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. She attended Long Island Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Guy Henderson Mendenhall Sr; a son, Donald Raye Mendenhall; two sisters; and one brother.
Surviving are three daughters, Brenda Starnes and husband, Donald, Kingsport, Kristy Clark and husband, Jerry, Kingsport, Deborah Mendenhall, Kingsport; three sons, Guy Mendenhall Jr. Kingsport, James Robert Mendenhall and wife, Sue, Kingsport, Larry Wayne Mendenhall; fourteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean Greer, Kingsport; and a half-brother, Bobby.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. J. C. ?Jake? Riner officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
