Nancy Allen Woodward

Nancy Allen Woodward, 88, of Kingsport, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016. Nancy Woodward was born in Bristol, Tennessee on January 2, 1928. She was a beloved daughter to Frank and Ethel Allen. She graduated from Tennessee High School and attended one year at ETSU. She married Jackson Woodward in 1947 and moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where he was attending the University of Tennessee. She worked at various secretarial positions while Jackson completed his degree. They lived at several military bases after Jackson graduated and eventually moved to Kingsport when Jackson accepted a job at Eastman. Nancy worked at Eastman as a secretary until she had her children, Jackson Henry, Jr., "Hank", and Ann. Nancy was a member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church. She returned to work after her children were older and greatly enjoyed being the secretary at Lincoln Elementary School for many years. Nancy was a devoted, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Henry Woodward; mother, Ethel Ellis Allen; and father, Frank Hobart Allen.

Nancy is survived by her son, Jackson Henry Woodward Jr. and wife Damaris Woodward; daughter, Ann Woodward Krause; four grandchildren, Laura Katherine Krause, Stephen Anthony Krause, Jackson Woodward, and Michael Woodward; sisters, Jane Reid and Frances Allen; brother, Ben Allen; niece, Carol Blanken; and nephews, David Rotenberry, Andy Allen, and Mike Allen.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with The Rev. Collin Blair Adams and The Rev. Daniel S. Clark officiating.

Burial will follow at Weaver Cemetery in Bristol, Tennessee.
