Nancy "Eula" Ashby, 85, of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a brief illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. Eula was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Joe Ashby; her parents, Biage and Bessie Mowdy; four brothers, Johnny Mowdy, Perry Mowdy, Bill Mowdy, Artie Mowdy; four sisters, Dorothy Dezarn, Imogene Mowdy, Janette Wilkins, Virginia Ford; and one son-in-law, Beecher Bowery.
Surviving are three daughters, Janie Bowery, Linda Whitaker and husband Frank, and Helen Ashby all of Kingsport; one son, Curtis Mowdy Sr. of Jonesborough; six grandchildren, Russell Bowery and wife Lisa, Bobby Bowery and wife Amanda, Genny Whitaker, Penny Bowery, Curtis Mowdy Jr., and Sankler Mowdy; five great-grandchildren, Kylie Bowery, Jessica Mowdy, Monica Mowdy, Savannah Bowery, and William "Will" Bowery; one sister, Shirley Mowdy of Kingsport; two brothers, Rev. Charles Mowdy and wife Fonda of Kingsport, Ed Mowdy of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Keasling officiating. Burial will follow at Snyder's Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
