Nancy L. East, 84, of Kingsport, died peacefully at her home Thursday morning, May 21, 2020, after a brief illness. Born in Indianapolis, IN, she had resided in Kingsport since 1957. Nancy was a graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1957. She also attended, instructed, owned and operated Barton’s College of Cosmetology and was the owner of North Plaza Package Store for 50 years. Nancy’s passion was taking care of her animal and flowers. She was known for her hospitality, the doors to her home were always open and she never met a stranger. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and loved making people smile.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy George East; sister, Betty Fisher Wilson; and niece, Jane Clingler.
Nancy is survived by her 2 daughters, Anita Staten and husband, Jeff of Kingsport, and Karen Ring and husband, Vic of Kingsport; son, Todd East and wife, Teresa of Kingsport; 4 grandsons, Captain Easton Ring and wife, Nellie, Bart Ring and wife, Jen, Jason Ring, and Skylar East; great-grandson, Robert Wiley Ring; nephew, Steve Wilson; niece, Diane Ashmore; and her dog, “Champ.”
A family committal service will take place in the Oak Hill Memorial Mausoleum with The Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating.
