Nancy Najla Mire

Nancy Najla Sangid Mire, 77, died on August 19, 2009, at her home in Knoxville. She was born in Belém, Brazil on April 22, 1932. Mrs. Mire was married in 1952 to Fouzie Mire and moved to Kingsport where she had three sons and a daughter and later moved to Knoxville in 2004. Nancy was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. With a passion for living and love for people, she forged many special bonds through her open nature.

In addition to her husband of almost 57 years, Mrs. Mire is survived by her children, Sonya Mire of Knoxville, Dr. Gary Mire of Fredrick, MD, Dr. Dean Mire and wife Cindy of Knoxville, and Richard Mire and wife Jill of Asheville, NC; and seven grandchildren, Laura, Sophia, Jenna, Anna, Leila, Reece, and Joel. She is also survived by sisters, Odette Shaban of Richmond, VA; Lamia Sangid, Adema Hoag, and Nadia Hamden, all of Los Angeles, CA, and Samia Daou of Beirut Lebanon; and a brother, Dr. Sami Sangid of Beirut Lebanon.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Father Mike Nolan and Deacon Ben Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
